The Montessori School of Pawleys Island is a nonprofit 501(c3) organization offering a complete Montessori Education for children 6 weeks to 6 years using a unique method of teaching developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori that grew out of 50 years of observing how children best learn.
Our Programs
- Infant
- 6 weeks – 12 months
The specially prepared environment is designed to give babies freedom to learn through their senses. Our infant/teacher ratio is 3:1. View your baby’s activities on our live webcam through a private, secure web portal.

- 12 months – 3 years
Very young children are capable of absorbing information, concepts, and skills from their surroundings and peers. The Toddler program nurtures curiosity, creativity, imagination and respect for self and others.

- 3 – 6 years
In our Primary classrooms each child moves at their own pace through carefully sequenced, hands-on Montessori materials in areas of mathematics, language development, practical life, art, reading, geography and nature developing skills.

Children can attend our Extended Day regularly from one to five days per week. And as long as there is space, we are happy to have children drop in for an afternoon.
