Open enrollment starts in spring for fall classes and while we often have a waiting list, we make every effort to accommodate additional students. Interested parents can contact the school any time of year for more information.
Children are evaluated on the basis of readiness for school and potential for success in a Montessori environment. It is equally important to determine whether the parents’ educational philosophy is compatible with that of MSPI. The admissions process consists of an interview with the Director, a parent observation visit, an evaluation of the child by a teacher, and submission of application form. Older children may be asked to spend additional time in the classroom prior to acceptance for admission. Priority in enrollment is given to siblings and children transferring from another Montessori program. Applications for students older than three years of age are accepted if they are transferring from another Montessori school, or as space allows.
Re-enrollment takes place in late February and early March. Requirements for enrollment include payment of all fees, teacher recommendations, and submission of any necessary forms. A student’s re-enrollment is subject to approval by Montessori School of Pawleys Island.
Montessori School of Pawleys Island reserves the right to terminate the enrollment of any child for any reason, provided written notice of termination is provided to the parents of that child and the parents have had prior notification of the attempts made to correct the reasons for termination.
