G’day mate! This week, Primary 3 class explored Australia, the continent down under. Everyone enjoyed learning about the climate, land, cities, people, and the native animals. Of course, talking about kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, wombats, emus, and kookaburras, created a lot of interest! On Thursday, Daniel’s grandparents, Joan and Mick Watts, who are from Australia, visited our class. They told us so many amazing things about Australia from a native’s perspective. The children really enjoyed all of the information that they had to share. They also loved hearing the didgeridoo and holding the stuffed Australian animals. For snack, those who were brave enough, sampled some vegemite (food paste), that is a popular spread for toast in Australia.

Some of our students favorite works this week were orange juice squeezing, grinding rock salt with a mortar and pestle, and grinding whole spices with the handled grinder.
